Meet our Project Administrator
Mehreen Ali
My name is Mehreen Ali and I am a Project Administrator at the Look Like Me Book Challenge. I started working here last year in 2023 after I learned about the amazing things this organisation does.
For the last 13 years I have worked as a Recruiter for many different companies and worked mainly within the IT and Technology industry. I know the recruitment world inside out and for years I have been a strong and active voice and advocate for Inclusive hiring and eliminating bias and discrimination within the industry and within traditional recruitment practices.
I have a strong passion for social justice and true equity. For the last couple of years I have been giving workshops and webinars to organisations around DEI and advocating for businesses to become more inclusive, especially for Black and brown employees. As a Muslim, I have also been a strong voice and advocate for Muslim employees within organisations. In the weekends you will find me protesting for equal rights, and a fair and just future of all.
In the beginning of this year, I co-founded a CIC called Project Humanise. We are a social justice organisation and provide safe spaces for Muslims all over the world. Bringing communities together is extremely important to me and giving people a voice is extremely important to me too.
This brings me to Raised Voices, where I have played a part in organising the workshops and the Open Mic. Seeing all the creative young budding authors in one room warmed my heart. There are so many talented and innovative young people in our communities, and it is our responsibility as adults to make sure we provide the safety and right tools for the next generation. This project has yet again shown us the beauty of creative writing and empower children can create. It has been an honour to work with everyone.
